The Ethiopian Institute of Certified Public Accountants is the national professional body mandated to develop the accountancy profession in Ethiopia.

Who We Are

Established under Proclamation No. 1372/2025, ETiCPA is Ethiopia’s new legally mandated professional accountancy body. Its creation signals a historic commitment to transparency, accountability, public trust, and global alignment in financial reporting and auditing.

ETiCPA is entrusted with developing a strong, ethical, and internationally recognized accountancy profession that serves the public interest and supports Ethiopia’s economic and social transformation.

Governance

ETiCPA operates under a clear governance framework that ensures transparency, integrity, and accountability in fulfilling its legal mandate. The Institute is guided by a governing Council, supported by specialized Committees.

The Council / Board

The Council is the supreme governing body of the Institute. It provides strategic direction, approves policies, oversees institutional performance, and ensures that ETiCPA fulfills its statutory obligations.

The Council is composed of representatives from government, the profession, academia, and relevant stakeholders.

Management and staffs

The management and the staff are the administrative arm of ETiCPA.
They are responsible for implementing policies, managing daily operations, supporting members and students, and delivering professional services.

It is led by senior management and staffed with technical and administrative personnel.

Committees

Committees support the Council in key functional areas.

Education, Curriculum & Examination committee

Oversees professional qualifications curriculum, education and examinations.

Investigation committee

Examines complaints, gathers and evaluates evidence, and determines whether there is a case to refer to the discipline committee for formal action.


Discipline Committee

Ensures professional conduct and enforces ethical standards.

Audit Committee

Oversees financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, and the independence and effectiveness of the audit process.
